Your Responsibilities

Financial Support is Based on Household Makeup
HASCO is responsible for distributing financial support, provided by the U.S. and local governments, to as many households as possible. The government provides a set amount of money each year.

People in the Senior and Disabled Program are required to pay 30% of their income for rent. Financial support from government programs covers the difference between what you pay and the actual rent for your apartment home.

This financial help is based on the number of people in your household, household income and other factors. HASCO is required to adjust the amount you pay when these factors change, ensuring that financial support is provided fairly for everyone we serve.

When you sign your lease for a HASCO home, you also accept responsibility for keeping HASCO updated on changes that effect your household’s needs.

10-Day Notification Rule
You must report any change in your household’s income and any change in household membership within 10 days of the change, in writing.

Download the form or forms you need from this page. You are required to provide documents related to the change in some cases (see each individual form).

Examples of changes you must report within 10 days are listed here.

Income: increase or decrease from any source (child support, DSHS, job, pension, Social Security, Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and any other source of income)

Minor child or adult moving out of your home

The amount of rent you pay often changes when your income or household membership changes. HASCO will confirm your new rent amount in writing.

If you have any question about whether you must report something contact your Housing Specialist.

Use the following forms if you rent a home from HASCO in the Senior and Disabled Program (USDA) where rental assistance is tied to your property. Not sure who to work with? Can’t find the right form?

Call the HASCO main number (425-290-8499) and ask for the name and contact information for your representative.

If you have voucher assistance, you will need to report changes to the voucher department, using the forms found here.

Advance Notification Rule
Adding household members to your home and your extended absence from the home require prior approval by HASCO.

Approval by HASCO is required before any adult that is not part of your original household can move into your home, including any of the following.

Family member

Friend

Live-in Aide

Significant Other

Spouse (husband or wife)

Advance approval by HASCO is required for a child to move into your home, including the following. This rule applies to any child who did not live with you when you signed your lease agreement.

Foster child

Relative child (cousin, daughter, grandchild, niece, nephew, son)

New household members may not reside in the home until you receive written approval from HASCO.

Anyone not included in your lease that lives in your home for more than 7 days in a row must be pre-approved

Anyone not on your lease that lives in your home for 14 days or more in a 45-day period is considered a household member and must be pre-approved

Check your lease for the live-in visitor policy for your apartment home

Absence from the home for 14 days or more requires advance approval.

State your plans in an email or postal mail to your Housing Specialist. Make sure you leave enough time for a written response from HASCO.

If you have any question about whether you must report something contact your Housing Specialist.
