Be Part of the Solution

HASCO is the Housing Authority of Snohomish County. We provide partial rent support for over 4,000 households living in privately owned buildings through federal funding programs. We own and rent properties that serve people with a wide range of budgets.

HASCO works in partnership with Snohomish County landlords. Together, we can provide good quality housing to more people and families whose incomes don’t add up to the cost of living here. It’s a simple arrangement. You run your home rental business as usual and work with HASCO through a contract.

The benefits are real. Landlords receive stable rent for program participants; HASCO’s monthly portion is paid automatically. Join us!

To make doing business with us easy, HASCO provides everything you need online.

  • An introductory video for landlords with a basic overview of their program and your role.

Renting to Voucher Holders

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (previously named Section 8 Housing) provides a financial bridge between what an individual or family can afford and the actual cost of rent. HASCO issues vouchers, funded by the federal government, to tenants living in private rental properties throughout every community in Snohomish County.

When you rent to a Voucher Holder, you receive full rent under the terms of your standard lease agreement.

Tenant pays a portion of the rent directly to you (30-40% of their income)

HASCO pays a portion of the rent directly to you through automatic payment

Some Voucher Holders also receive HASCO’s help with utilities

HASCO representatives maintain an ongoing relationship with you and each Voucher Holder. We perform periodic financial reviews and home inspections to ensure all parties live up to their responsibilities. We respect everyone’s privacy and role, providing timely communications about inspections and rent change requests. Through the Landlord Portal you have access to past history and upcoming inspections for each of your Voucher Holder tenants.

If you are renting to your first Voucher Holder, welcome! For all those working with HASCO, bookmark the Landlords website section and return as needed for updates.
