Your Responsibilities
Financial Support is Based on Household Makeup
HASCO is responsible for distributing financial support, provided by the U.S. and local governments, to as many households as possible. The government provides a set amount of money each year. HASCO issues each voucher based on government guidelines, the cost of living in Snohomish County and the amount of money available.
Your voucher represents financial help based on the number of people in your household, household income and other factors. HASCO is required to monitor changes and adjust voucher amounts to ensure that financial support is provided fairly for everyone we serve.
When you accept vouchers you also accept responsibility for keeping HASCO updated on changes that affect your household’s needs.
10-Day Notification Rule
You must report any change in your household’s income, any change in household membership and notice of eviction within 10 days of the change, in writing.
Download the form or forms you need from this page. You are required to provide documents related to the change in some cases (see each individual form).
Examples of changes you must report within 10 days are listed here.
The amount of rent you pay often changes when your income or household membership changes. HASCO will confirm your new rent amount in writing.
If you have any question about whether you must report something contact your Housing Specialist.
Advance Notification Rule
Adding household members to your home and your extended absence from the home require prior approval by HASCO.
Approval by HASCO and your landlord is required before any adult who is not part of your original household can move into your home, including any of the following.
Advance approval by HASCO and your landlord is required for a child to move into your home, including the following. This rule applies to any child who did not live with you when you signed your voucher and lease agreements.
New household members may not reside in the home until you receive written approval from HASCO.
