    The Big Picture

HASCO connects people with government and local programs that help with rent.

We provide financial help for renters in places we own. We help many HASCO tenants get access to services they need to maintain stability and make progress in life.

Another kind of financial support comes in the form of “vouchers.” Housing Choice Vouchers are promise notes from HASCO to your landlord for a specific amount of money, covering a portion of the total rent each month. Voucher holders may also receive help with utility expenses, such as water and electric bills.

HASCO is currently accepting applications for the program that serves seniors and people with disabilities.

The application process is designed to help individuals and heads of households figure out what they qualify for. If you need help filling out and submitting your application to HASCO, including translator services, make an appointment with us.

The waiting lists are very long for both types of housing support (Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and housing for seniors and people with disabilities)—often five years or more. HASCO makes sure that each applicant is treated fairly.

If you already receive housing vouchers through the VASH program for veterans or any other partner program, go to the Renter Center for information about staying up-to-date with your benefits.

    First Steps

Do I Qualify for Housing Support?

Whether or not you qualify for housing support depends on your circumstances, short-term needs and long-term needs. The amount you earn, the number of people in your household and factors that affect employment and income are all considered in the application process.

    Where Can I Live?

Your choices about where to live depend on the type of financial support you apply for and receive.

    Seniors and People with Disabilities

As part of the application process for this program you pick one or more HASCO-owned properties where you’d like to live. If your application is accepted, your name is placed on a separate waiting list for each property you chose.

    Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV or Section 8) program helps you pay the rent at any property in Snohomish County.

All property owners in Snohomish County are required to accept vouchers as part of the rent.

If you are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless soon, get help through Snohomish County Coordinated Entry.
