Rent Basics
Senior Citizens and People with Disabilities in this program pay 30% of their income for rent of their home. HASCO is the landlord and lease holder for all properties in the program.
The required 30% that your household pays monthly is based on your “adjusted income,” which is figured out as part of the application process.
Your lease states the set amount of rent you are required to pay each month. You must update HASCO each year about your income. HASCO mails an Annual Packet to you about three months before your move-in anniversary date. To ensure your health and safety, HASCO may conduct an inspection of your unit at this time.
How to Pay Rent
Rent is due every month on or before the date listed in your lease.
There are three ways to pay rent.
Automatic Withdrawal
You have the option to set up automatic payments, so rent is paid from your bank account on the same date each month.
You can set up automatic payments when you sign your lease. Contact HASCO if you wish to start this payment method at another time.
Deliver Payment In-Person
You may deliver your rent to the HASCO main office. There is a secure outside drop-off box for 24-hour access. Make sure your payment is in a clearly marked, sealed envelope. Include the property name and unit number where you live.
Mail Payment
Mail rent payments to the main HASCO office. To ensure we receive your rent payment on time mail 2 – 4 days before it is due.
Utilities
Your lease states whether or not you are required to pay a portion of utility costs. Utilities include the following services.
Your required payment is based on average utility costs in Snohomish County. HASCO pays a baseline amount and you must pay the difference between this baseline and the total utility amount for the services your household uses.
Expenses, such as cable and streaming television services, car insurance, entertainment, food and medical costs are your responsibility. HASCO provides no assistance other than rent and utilities specifically included in your lease agreement.
