HASCO’s Section 8 Department Remains a High Performer

HUD reviewed HASCO’s performance on the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) and awarded HASCO a score of 100 out of 100 points.  HASCO was again declared a high performer for fiscal year 2011 (July 2010-June 2011).  The SEMAP assessment rates housing authorities on 15 indicators covering every aspect of the Section 8 program including applications, annual re-certifications and inspections.

Snohomish County seeks resident feedback on housing discrimination

Snohomish County is in the process of gathering information on residents’ experiences finding housing and experiencing housing discrimination. This is part of a study called an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) that is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Snohomish County is inviting residents to take an online survey about your experiences. 


HASCO is looking for resident volunteers to serve on the Agency Plan Committee

The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires that all housing authorities receiving federal housing assistance develop a "Public Housing Agency Plan."

HASCO Receives 25 Housing Vouchers For Homeless Veterans

Today, the Housing Authority of Snohomish County received 25 more housing vouchers to serve homeless veterans through the Veterans Assistance Supportive Housing Program.  U.S. Senator Patty Murray announced this funding award in her press release below.

HASCO Receives 50 Family Unification Program Vouchers to Help Families Stay Together

Today, HUD awarded $454,830 to the Housing Authority of Snohomish County for 50 FUP vouchers.  These vouchers are available for families whose inadequate housing is the primary factor in the separation or near separation from their children.  In addition, FUP vouchers will provide stable housing for young adults (ages 18-21) who left or are aging out of the foster care system, preventing them from becoming homeless.  HASCO will work with DSHS to identify families who are eligible for the program.  For more information, see HUD's press release

40 years ago today HASCO was incorporated as a public housing authority, on May 6, 1971, after a group of 278 citizens submitted a petition to the Snohomish County Commission calling for the creation of a public housing authority in Snohomish County.
