HUD declares HASCO’s Section 8 Department a High Performer

After reviewing HASCO’s performance on the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP), HUD has given HASCO 100 out of 100 points and declared the Housing Authority to be a high performer for fiscal year 2010 (July 2009-June 2010).  The SEMAP assessment rates housing authorities on 15 indicators covering every aspect of the Section 8 program including applications, annual re-certifications and inspections.


HASCO Staff Donate Record Amount to United Way

HASCO completed its annual United Way campaign drive in October.  HASCO has held annual United Way campaigns for the last twelve years.  Due to the generosity of the staff, HASCO has achieved a personal record of over $10,000 contributed to United Way in one campaign. 


HASCO Holds Coat Giveaway and Halloween Party at Whispering Pines Apartments

On October 28th, HASCO held a coat giveaway and Halloween party at Whispering Pines Apartments. 217 residents came to the party and received many free goods and services.  At the event, 125 children and youth received coats, 100 received bike helmets, 14 people got flu shots, 49 received simple dental exams and 41 children received fluoride varnishes.  This event was held in partnership with the Family Center of South Snohomish County, Lynnwood Rotary, Lynnwood Kiwanis, Community Health Center and several other community partners.

Cedar Grove Camp Fire Dance Troupe Performs at Board Meeting

Camp Fire hosts several clubs at HASCO owned properties.  The Camp Fire children from Cedar Grove Apartments in Marysville have formed a dance troupe and have been performing dance routines for the public for two years.  The children performed three dance numbers at the board meeting in honor of Camp Fire’s centennial celebration.


HASCO Commemorates Camp Fire’s Centennial Year

The Housing Authority Board of Commissioners approved a resolution at their August meeting commemorating the Housing Authority’s appreciation for its partnership with Camp Fire and the work Camp Fire has done in the United States over the last 100 years.  HASCO and Camp Fire have partnered to provide children’s programs at some Housing Authority properties for fifteen years.


College Scholarship Awarded to HASCO Participant

Alexander Nicholas of Gold Bar was awarded a $4,000 scholarship by the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. PNRC-NAHRO provides scholarships to two graduating high school seniors who participate in an affordable housing program.  Mr. Nicholas graduated from Sultan High School on June 12th and plans to attend college in the fall. 


HASCO Receives National Housing Awards

The Housing Authority received two Merit Awards from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.  NAHRO recognizes housing organizations that have found innovative solutions to local issues that make a difference in their community and impact the lives of those they serve.
